Salary: Negotiable based on qualifications and experience
The Engineering Assistant shall be responsible for the supervision of all construction and rehabilitation works.
Duties and Responsibilities:
(i) Assist in the selection of the consulting firms for the design and supervision of the infrastructural works.
(ii) Review payment certificates and ensuring that the required supporting technical and accounting documents are in order, and forwarding to the Accounts Unit for processing and eventual disbursement.
(iii) Liaise with other GOB and non-government agencies as required.
(iv) Secure the necessary agreements and memoranda of understanding related to the ownership of land and use of the facilities to be constructed and rehabilitated, as well as necessary statutory approvals.
(v) Ensure that engineering designs comply with the technical standards and norms set by the Ministry of Works.
(vi) Conduct site inspection visits to all infrastructural works undertaken by the Ministry and ensuring the timely preparation of inspection reports,
(vii) Collaborate with responsible agencies in the preparation of annual maintenance reports.
(viii) Prepare project progress reports as requested by the Director, Chief Executive Officer and/or Project Managers.
(ix) Perform other tasks as assigned by the Director.
Qualification and Skills:
A Academic Qualifications
The prospective candidate should possess a Diploma or Certificate in Civil and Building Engineering or other relevant discipline.
B Knowledge, Skill, and Ability Requirements
(a) Demonstrated ability to build consensus and work with inter-disciplinary teams.
(b) Computer literate in the areas of Microsoft Word, Excel and Project
(c) Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and written; knowledge of Spanish would be desirable.
(d) Ability to listen and ascertain the needs of stakeholders; ability to find and communicate accurate information concerning process, policies and procedures to stakeholders; and ability to respond to stakeholders tactfully and courteously.
(e) Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments, vendors and the public.
