The Pharmacy Unit in the Ministry of Health & Wellness provides technical supports in pharmaceutical matters and also ensures that safe and effective medicines are imported and are provided to the ill and needy of the society. Also, provide and update protocols for good pharmaceutical care that includes provision of medication in accordance with the doctor’s orders, the compounding of extemporaneous preparations, the management of patient at the ward level, patient counseling and education. Assisting with ensuring the constant availability of pharmaceuticals and medical supplies, facilitating continuous access to the patients.  Oversees pharmacovigilance practices to ensure safety of the patients & pharmaceuticals and quality in the services provided through monitoring and reporting. Facilitates the availability of a cadre of well trained and competent Pharmacists within the country of Belize.
