As Minister of Health and Wellness, I welcome you to our official website, where you will find information on our work, facilities and services. You will also find statistics compiled by our analysts in different fields, updated to provide accurate, concise information when it is required.

But our Ministry is much more than that. I am proud to lead a vast and diverse team of professionals – administrators, medical personnel and support staff which operates with one goal – providing the very highest quality of healthcare to every Belizean who needs it, regardless of where they are in this country. From the rural community nurse in the remote south to the central region technician tirelessly conducting tests, we are committed to doing the very best we can for our people, and our country.

Covid has been at the forefront of the public conscious for two years, and at certain junctures has threatened to overwhelm our health system. And it would have, if not for all those in the Ministry and on the frontlines who fought, and continue to fight the pandemic, heroically and selflessly. And there are so many more challenges we face in the Ministry – from diabetes, hypertension and lifestyle diseases to the symptoms of terrible poverty, crime and ignorance. We face these tremendous obstacles every day, in every possible way, but we overcome.

As a Ministry, we are revitalized and ready to deal with whatever comes our way. We are procuring new equipment for our health facilities countrywide, including ambulances. Five of our premier facilities have been retrofitted to ensure the provision of quality healthcare, even in the face of natural disasters. We are working diligently on the rollout of National Health Insurance, while enhancing current NHI providers and expanding services offered at this time. Perhaps most importantly, we will work continuously to ensure that our team, particularly those on the frontlines, are properly resourced and properly recognized for the work they do.

It is an exciting time at the Ministry, and I am proud to be at the helm of a dynamic team. Together, we will Deliver on Plan Belize.
